About Andrew Glassford
Andrew Glassford grew up collecting photos of jewelry advertisements from magazines, sparking his love of design. While his family appreciated and acquired all types of jewelry, it was a brooch worn by his mother for over forty years that inspired his first piece, “El Pescado,” which is seen in different versions throughout his premier collection.
Raised in Laredo, Texas, the Mexican border culture had a strong influence on Glassford, which is most evident in his bold use of color. He has found design ideas in uncommon places throughout his travels, such as the architecture in Beijing’s Forbidden City, brass tapers in churches from around the world and baskets of rambutan at fruit stands in Asia. His most recent trip to China and Tokyo will undoubtedly be reflected in his next collection.
With a long-tenured background in financial services, Glassford now strikes a creative balance. He studied at L’École Van Cleef & Arpels and began working towards his GIA graduate certifications prior to founding Andrew Glassford Jewels.
