Museum

The Museum Series is a multi-generational collection which reflects designer Andrew Glassford’s penchants for travel, love of Art Deco, and use of architectural elements in his creations.  The inspiration for this series came from an unlike source – a hallway.  In 2016, designer Andrew Glassford visited the newly opened ‘Overseas Chinese Fine Arts Museum’ in Guilin China, where he was awestruck the hallways – the ‘zoulang,’ – which connected the multiple gallery buildings around a central garden, in the traditional Siheyuan (Courtyard House) architecture.  This spectacular hallway was comprised of a series of seemingly endless concentric hexagons – each hexagon framed in thick, glossy calligraphy-ink black enamel.  That evening, Andrew began to sketch – big, faceted gems, framed by concentric hexagons of rich deep yellow gold and inky black lacquer, the first of his Museum Series designs.

Andrew Glassford’s Museum Series continues to evolve; however, you will find each piece remains true to its original inspiration and incorporates classic Art Deco elements – highly symmetrical and streamlined structures, bold gems and jewel-tone colors, luxurious and opulent materials.  Museum Series pieces are geometrically shaped, boldly designed, timelessly elegant and bring glamor and modernity to the wearer.
